An award-winning broadcast journalist, Shalu moves between long-form investigations, breaking news, and frontline reportage. Her storytelling has taken her across South Asia. She has chronicled conflicts in Kashmir, Afghanistan, and the Middle East in her 15-year-long career.
Her work is fueled by a passion to craft stories that connect across borders while keeping the human experience at the heart.
Born and raised in Delhi, she joined DW's correspondent team in May 2024. Prior to that, she spent over a decade at BBC News at its Washington DC bureau, in Delhi, and at its London headquarters. She has also been a radio freelance correspondent for American broadcasters NPR and Vox.
