Football and music have long gone hand in hand. This year many German artists are hoping their song will become one of the Euro 2016 anthems. We check out the biggest German football songs to see what makes a hit.

At the age of 70, rocker Udo Lindenberg is cranking up the gears once again. His 36th studio album "Stärker als die Zeit" ("Stronger than Time"), has spent five weeks in the German top five. And he's currently playing one of the biggest stadium tours of his career.

TIP: Gentleman & Ky-Mani Marley – Signs of The Times

German reggae star Tilmann Otto, aka Gentleman, has fulfilled one of his dream collaborations. For his seventh studio album "Conversations" he flew to Jamaica to record with Bob Marley's son Ky-Mani.

During the peak of the techno movement, a schoolgirl from Hamburg stormed her way into the international charts. As "Blümchen" and "Blossom", Jasmin Wagner produced more than a dozen chart hits. And 20 years ago she released her single "Boomerang".
