German astronaut Alexander Gerst has been honored at a Federal Order of Merit ceremony themed on breaking down divides. Also receiving plaudits were activists who sought political freedom in the former East Germany.
Humanity needs the ISS to conquer deep space, according to the head of Russia's space agency, Dmitry Rogozin. The orbiting station should keep operating indefinitely with crews from all over the world, he added.
The robot named Fedor will test skills and aid astronauts on the International Space Station. A previous attempt to dock the Soyuz spacecraft had failed over the weekend.
