Canada may not succeed in reducing its reliance on the United States if a free trade deal with the EU fails.
The Italian government has reiterated its opposition to the CETA free trade deal between the European Union and Canada. The deputy prime minister said parliament would not ratify the agreement formally signed in 2016.
The US has dropped steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada and Mexico. The tariffs had stood for just under a year and were part of a bitter trade dispute between the North American trading partners.
The Federal Aviation Administration says it has no timetable for when it will approve the troubled Boeing 737 MAX to take to the skies again. The plane was grounded worldwide in March after two deadly crashes.
