Maharashtra police are trying raise awareness about rumors on Whatsapp that motivate violent forms of revenge, as India has been rocked by a wave of mob lynchings across the country in recent months.
At least 25 people have been killed since May in incidents of mob violence triggered by rumors circulated on WhatsApp. The authorities do not know who is behind the hoax messages.
