Lacking power and heat, the Lipa Camp was set to close Wednesday. Residents are suspected of setting the fire as they vacated the facility.
Plans to move hundreds of migrants from the fire-damaged Lipa camp to new accommodation stalled after protests from local residents. The failed transfer means they're now stranded in the cold with little shelter.
Thousands of refugees and migrants wait in Bosnia for the possibility to enter the EU. Disagreements over how to distribute aid threaten to leave many in cold — if it weren't for volunteers working on their own.
Some 500 unaccompanied minors are among the refugees currently staying in camps in Bosnia-Herzegovina. They are the most vulnerable refugee group in the country, with many traumatized and in need of help.
