German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder will hold talks on July 25 with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, the German leader's office announced on Monday. The two leaders are expected to discuss relations between their countries and European issues in the meeting in Frankfurt an der Oder, on the border between Germany and Poland. The talks come at a crucial time for the European Union, which Poland joined in a wave of enlargement to the east last year. Schröder has called for the expansion to continue despite the rejections by French and Dutch voters of the EU constitution which was designed to provide a framework for the enlarged bloc.
