For a year now, Tanzania's main opposition Chadema party and human rights groups have been calling on the authorities to release Tundu Lissu.

The party leader and one-time presidential hopeful is on trial for treason following his arrest at a rally in the runup to the October 2025 general election.

On this episode of AfricaLink, Eddy Micah Jr. speaks with Shukuru Paul, a human rights lawyer and governance expert, and DW’s Doto Bullendu in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
