European airports boost security in the aftermath of Brussels attacks
German authorities have confirmed media reports that a major attack by so-called Islamic State was prevented in 2016. The reports say three teams of jihadists were planning to travel to Germany and kill large numbers of people at a music festival.
Prosecutors have suggested that a Syrian man may have acted on extremist sympathies when he staged the attack. The suspect allegedly demanded permission to join the "Islamic State" in Syria during police negotiations.
An attack at a college in Russian-annexed Crimea has killed multiple people, mostly teenagers. Russian investigators have called it a case of mass murder.
