Weimar’s Library to be Restored by 2007

The Anna Amalia library in Weimar, which was badly damaged by a fire at the beginning of September, is expected to be returned to its original splendour by 2007, according to the director of the library. The 16th-century rococo-style palace appears to be in surprisingly good condition considering the intensity of the blaze and its structure remains mostly intact. Restoration work could therefore begin immediately. The costs for the rebuilding will be confirmed within the month.
