The carnival in the Swiss city of Basel rings in the 40 days of Lent. Its rituals and costumes are so unique that, in December, 2017, UNESCO listed the festival as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Legendary luxury watch brands, for which Switzerland is known worldwide, originate from La Chaux-de-Fonds and Le Locle. The watchmaking metropolis has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009.
Belgian beer culture was added to UNESCO's list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2016. It is now being celebrated at the 10th Beer Festival in Bruges.
