Many of the opponents of the government currently demonstrating in Kiev come from western Ukraine. A great deal of the support comes from Lviv.
The mayor of Lviv is especially proud of his city. Every day dozens of demonstrators travel in buses to the occupied Maidan Nezalezhnosti, Independence Square, in Kiev. In the university city of Lviv, people are especially disappointed with President Viktor Yanukovych's turn towards Russia. EU flags can be seen waving from cars and apartments everywhere as a sign of protest.
