Uganda: A brave lawyer stands up against injustice

July 21, 2017

At just 37, human rights lawyer, Nicholas Opiyo has taken on some of the toughest cases in Uganda. Together with his team at Chapter Four Uganda, he was able to challenge Uganda's anti-homosexuality law, and has defended government critics and victims of torture. In 2017, Opiyo was awarded the German Africa Prize for his defence of human rights that few other lawyers are willing to take on.
