Body weight is not the only indicator of obesity. Height is also a factor. The BMI is defined as the body mass divided by the square of the body height.

The number of people who urgently need to lose weight has shot up over the past 35 years. Almost a third of people worldwide are now overweight or even obese, an international research team says.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that more kids will be obese or overweight globally than underweight by 2022. Currently, the number of obese five to 19-year-olds is 10 times higher than in 1975.
Alarmed at the rise of obesity among children and adolescents, the WHO urges stricter limitations on advertising for junk food – and for beer in Germany, too.
