Seeing Iran and Germany eye-to-eye

Eskandar Abadi first came to Germany from Iran in 1980 and associated the country with Volkswagens and a tough-sounding language. He then studied political science and German language and literature at the University of Marburg and was a lecturer there from 1991 to 2002. Now after living in Germany most of his life, Eskandar hears the language in a softer tone -and has a German passport. As an editor with DW's Persian service since 2002, Eskandar values DW's commitment to independent journalism that especially provides valuable information to people in Iran who have restricted access to media.
