World leaders have voiced outrage at her murder, and appealed for calm. US President George Bush called it a "cowardly act" and urged Pakistan to push ahead with plans for elections in January. The UN Security Council has voted unanimously to condemn the assassination. And Afghan president Hamid Karzai, who met with Bhutto just hours before her death, paid tribute to the former prime minister.
