A 44-year-old man with an international arrest warrant out against him was apprehended by police in Frankfurt on Monday while he was sleeping in the bed of a female Frankfurt police inspector. The man, Burkhard Liesum, was wanted on charges of attempted manslaughter and rape and appeared on wanted posters in the Frankfurt area. After Liesum's case was broadcast on a national television show, clues led investigators to an apartment near Frankfurt. When a special forces team entered the residence, they found the suspect sleeping in the bed of the 36-year-old police inspector. The police employee is said to have known Liesum for some time and was not directly involved in his case. However, she has been suspended from duty and prosecutors are investigating. She has refused to provide information so far. According to the mass-circulation Bild newspaper, Liesum is a repeat criminal and has held at least three women as sex slaves.
