So far, more than 18,000 journalists, managers and technicians from broadcasters in developing countries and Eastern Europe have participated in DWFZ courses. All of them were able to expand their professional knowledge, gain new experiences and establish international contacts. Many former participants today hold top positions in their native countries.

The DW Training Centre sees itself as a forum for the intercultural dialogue between broadcasting specialists worldwide. It works closely together with partner stations and broadcasting training centres from all over the world. DWFZ is financed primarily by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The courses and seminars are conducted in Bonn and Berlin, as well as on location in partner countries. The working language in the courses is mainly English. But there are also seminars in French and Spanish. Several other languages are taught with the help of interpreters. All courses offered at the DW Training Centre underlie the same principle: the demand determines the supply and all courses are specially tailored to the partner.
