BMW puts the i8, a 2+2, on the road.

BMW's first plug-in hybrid has classic sportscar proportions. The i8 combines the power of a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine with an electric motor, resulting in a maximum power of 266 kilowatts. Using only the electric engine, the i8 has a range of 37 kilometers with a top speed of 120 kilometers an hour. BMW rates the car's fuel consumption at a super-low 2.1 liters per 100 kilometers an hour. A special design feature is the scissor doors, which open sideways. The i8 costs €126,000 in Germany.
