Oliver Kahn Faces Stiff Competition in National Team

It seems Bundesliga titans Bayern Munich will no longer dictate the lineup of the German national team in the near future. In the run-up to the 2006 World Cup in Germany, team officials said that there will be competition for all positions on the field. That also holds true for the goalkeeper position, where Bayern Munich starter Oliver Kahn has commanded the No.1 jersey ever since his heroic performance in the 2000 World Cup. Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann, but also up and comer Timo Hildebrandt from Vfb Stuttgart, will have a shot at the starting position. "All three will get their chance in national team games," said co-trainer Joachim Löw.
