Football world champions France came from behind to beat Germany 2-1 in the Nations League. But under fire for a string of defeats, Germany coach Joachim Löw had radically switched his tactics, and his side at least showed some improvement.
Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng will be absent for Germany's upcoming clashes with Russia and the Netherlands. Both Löw and Boateng cited the experienced defender's fitness levels as the reason for the omission.
Germany are set to face Russia in a friendly, but will be without Dortmund forward Marco Reus. Joachim Löw is expected to field some younger players but has warned that the evolution of the team will be a slow process.
After a torrid 2018, Germany are aiming to end on a high note as they look to get their fans back onside. Head coach Joachim Löw wants to build on positive signals in the final two games of the year.
Another game, another defeat. Joachim Löw made five changes to the team which lost in Amsterdam with Thilo Kehrer, Niklas Süle, Nico Schulz, Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane all starting. But did the transition work?
