Mining on the Moon

The moon and Mars are the first planetary objects where humans are likely to set up manned bases. Scientists are already working on technologies for exploiting resources there.

Their vision: a semi-automatic mine with sensor-controlled diggers and transport vehicles. They are already testing intelligent robots that could explore the minerals in the lunar and Martian soil. At an institute in Bremen the robots are being prepared for their missions on other worlds.
