Michelle Henery

The world is more connected than ever but society is becoming more fragmented, making a true understanding of each other more elusive. Bridging that gap is what drives me as a journalist.

Born in:
Washington, DC

Languages:
English, French, German improving every day

Degrees/Journalistic experience:
BA, Georgetown University, Washington, DC. MA in Print Journalism, Goldsmiths University, London. For more than a decade, I have worked for leading new organizations across Europe, including as a Trainee Writer for Reuters in Paris, a reporter and editor for The Times of London, an on-camera correspondent for Al Jazeera English, and now as a presenter and news anchor for DW.

With DW since:
2016

Favorite quote:
We have all had the experience of finding that our reactions and perhaps even our deeds have denied beliefs we thought were ours.  -- James Baldwin

My personal hero:
My parents

What do I strive to be as a journalist?
Trusted and truthful. In the social media era there has never been a greater need to seek out facts and verify reports. It’s harder for the public now to trust what they are hearing or reading. I want to help make this easier.
