Derek Bell and Jochen Mass have won some of the fastest races ever driven. In the 1970s and 80s they reached 400 km/h at Le Mans, at a time when motor racing was at its most dangerous, The cars were fast but unstable, and racing cost the lives of one in ten drivers.
