Konstantin, a Jewish singer and choir leader, came to Germany with his family in 2005. The main reason for leaving Russia was the growing anti-Semitism there. He was happy to be moving to Leipzig, the city associated with his idol Johann Sebastian Bach. At first he had trouble finding work and dealing with official red tape. Then he suffered a personal blow: his wife left him, taking their young son with her.
