In Turkana, limited schooling leaves many young people with few options. A free IT campus now brings digital skills to the region. Some 700 applicants vie for 40 places in search of a new future.

In Kenya's remote Turkana region, people have lived as nomads and herders for centuries. Here, schooling is rare. On average, only one in ten children ever attends a classroom. And yet, in the middle of this dry, rugged landscape, something unexpected has taken shape: a modern IT campus preparing young people for digital careers.

The training is free, funded entirely by foundations and private donors. Demand is enormous. Every year, around 700 applicants compete for just 40 spots, hoping to secure one of the few chances to study. For the students who make it in, the campus represents much more than technical skills. It's a doorway into new possibilities – for themselves, their families, and the future of their region.
