Since being sworn in on January 7, 2025, for a non-consecutive second term, Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has focused his first year on economic stabilisation and restoring public confidence after years of fiscal strain. His administration rolled out a "Reset Agenda" centred on economic recovery, business reforms, anti-corruption measures and institutional renewal. Supporters point to relative cedi stability, easing inflation and improved growth prospects as early signs of recovery. However, the opposition has criticised his record, arguing that governance challenges, his 24-hour economy pledge, farmer welfare and public spending remain concerns. Overall, Mahama's first year has been marked by difficult reforms, cautious optimism and ongoing political debate over the depth and sustainability of the changes.
