In Ireland more and more people are struggling to meet their mortgage payments. Many lost their jobs in the crisis, and in some cases they are being forced out of their homes - like Andrew Bradshaw.
German pilots working for Irish no-frills carrier Ryanair are planning to strike on Friday, August 10. They are to join industrial action already announced by their colleagues in Ireland, Sweden and Belgium.
Ryanair cabin crew protests across Europe have caused 600 flights to be cancelled with 100,000 passengers affected. The strikes come as more than 300 Ryanair staff in Ireland are warned they may lose their jobs.
UK premier Theresa May is reported to have told her Cabinet that a change to her Brexit plan was not possible, after consulting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The two leaders have met twice in the past week.
Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said a strong early turnout in Ireland's abortion referendum would favor change in what used to be one of Europe's most socially conservative countries. Gavan Reilly reports from Dublin.
