When Yugoslavia broke up in the early '90s, Macedonia declared independence and took the name Republic of Macedonia. Neighboring Greece objected because its northern region is also called Macedonia. Has the name dispute now been settled? There are still hurdles to clear but Macedonia could soon be known as North Macedonia.
