Hazard permanent with Gladbach

Thorgan Hazard has joined Borussia Mönchengladbach on a permanent deal through 2020. The 21-year old had joined the club on loan from Chelsea, but after impressing in his first six months has signed a deal to stay on.

Thorgan Hazard will remain a Bundesliga player beyond this season after the Belgian international signed a permanent contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach until 2020 for a reported eight million euros.

"In the last few months Thorgan has shown what a huge talent he is. We are delighted that we are able to sign him permanently and that he has decided to play for Borussia in the years ahead," said Gladbach's Sporting Director Max Erbel in a statement on the club's website.

Hazard had joined Gladbach on a one-year loan at the beginning of the season from English Premier League club Chelsea. According to AP, the London-based club have a buy-back option on the Belgian.

The 21-year old, who was crowned Belgium's footballer of the year in 2013, has already made 29 appearances for Gladbach, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists - most recently setting up the winner in the derby against Cologne.

Hazard, the brother of Chelsea's star winger Eden, has only made one appearance for the Belgian national team - on May 29, 2013, he came on for the final six minutes against the US. Thorgan Hazard never made a first team appearance for Chelsea.
