Reports suggest President Trump has on multiple occasions discussed with advisors whether the US could buy the world's biggest island. However, Denmark has called the suggestion a mistimed April Fool's joke.
The government of Greenland says its territory is not for sale following reports that US President Donald Trump was looking into purchasing the massive, ice-covered island.
US President Donald Trump has confirmed his interest in buying Greenland from Denmark, saying the area was "strategically" interesting. Denmark and Greenland have repeatedly stressed the territory is not for sale.
Last week, the US and Taliban negotiators told DW in Doha that a draft agreement had almost been agreed upon. So President Trump's decision to call off peace talks with the Taliban came as a surprise for many.
The US leader gave Denmark the cold shoulder after the Nordic country dismissed the idea of selling Greenland. The move comes two days after Trump said striking a deal on the island was not a top priority.
