Euromaxx Highlights
July 6, 2013In this edition:
Stella McCartney at Berlin Fashion Week
The British fashion designer was in Berlin to look after the Designer for Tomorrow competition. She and a jury narrowed down the field from 350 applicants to the five best contestants. The five finalists came from Germany, Britain, and Romania.
Rock Climbing in Germany
The sport has become very popular in the country where you can do it on the real thing outside or on artificial rock walls inside. German Alexander Megos give us a demonstration - he's been rock climbing since he was five. He's also a European Youth Champion. We also look at bouldering which is a form of rock-climbing that forgoes using rope or harnesses.
Floppy Disk Art
British artist Nick Gentry grew up with floppy disks, stored computer games on them, and swapped them with his friends. Now he uses the plastic diskettes as canvases for his creations - with spectacular success. Me met up with him in London.
Pianist Khatia Buniatishvili
Georgian pianist Katja Buniatishvilli gives a special concert in a forest near Berlin. She grew up in Georgia but has been touring the world since she was 10. So far she has released two albums. In 2012 she received Germany's ECHO award for her debut album which featured the works of Franz Liszt.
The Croatian Island of Krk
We visit Croatia's largest island - Krk. Located on the eastern side of the Adriatic Sea, it is connected by bridge to the mainland. Euromaxx explores the sights and dives for wine that has been fermenting in the sea for six years.
