DW Wins Design Awards in Los Angeles

Deutsche Welle won a grand total of eight prizes - two gold, three silver, and three bronze - at the PromaxBDA Global Excellence Design Awards for 2012.

Holger Zeh, head of the Program Design team of DW accepted the awards last week in Los Angeles. The PromaxBDA awards are the only global competition for TV design and media marketing and are considered the most respected prizes for creative achievements in that field. Since the mid-1990s, DW has regularly participated in the contest and almost always won distinctions.


Global 3000 Africa on the Move

Holger Zeh said: “I am especially pleased that we received the award for TV as well as for online and print achievements.”

The team took all three prizes in the category of News, Bumper: gold for the design of “The Car Making World,” silver for “Global 3000 Africa on the Move,” and bronze for “Global 3000 Global Snack.”

The design of “The Future of Motoring” also took gold in the category of News, Open/Titles. Other nominees in this category included CNN International, CNN en Espanol, Al Jazeera English, and Schweizer Fernsehen.

Silver medals went to:

“The Future Of Motoring” (category of News, Art Direction & Design)

“Future Now” (category of News, Art Direction & Design, Informational Graphics)

Awards in bronze were received by:

“125 Years of Automobiles USB Card” (category of 3D Promotional of Sales Kit)

“Global Ideas” (category of Website, Flash Animation)
