Federal Reserve raises interest rates - Lebanese banks closed after spate of robberies
Following surprisingly high inflation numbers in August, the US Federal Reserve raised benchmark interest rates for the third time this year.
The European Central Bank has decided to raise eurozone intrest rates by a record 75 basis points as it tries to rein in inflation.
The Fed added 0.75% to its benchmark interest rate for a second straight time. The increase of the interest rate to its highest level in four years comes as inflation continues to reach new heights.
The European Central Bank has said it intends to hike key interest rates by 25 basis points later this week. Could the bank surprise markets with a bigger hike? As the suspense grows, so are expectations of its fallout.
