33-year-old Christina Herbst recently took over her parent’s farm after her two older brothers refused. Christina went to agricultural college and is now following in her father’s footsteps as a farm-owner, a traditionally male domain in Germany. She takes care of 650 pigs and a flock of sheep and oversees 130 hectares of farmland, and she also does the paperwork herself. And although she has her hands full, Christina Herbst would still like a family.
