Shackleton's Violin

Kate Laycock
January 13, 2022

A Scottish luthier has lovingly crafted a violin out of floorboards taken from the former home of Sir Ernest Shackleton. The legendary Antarctic explorer died one hundred years ago this year, and is best remembered for the bravery with which he saved his crew after their ship, Endurance, was crushed by pack ice during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914 – 1917.
