The German army has sent 100 people to Mali to help train the country's army to fight insurgents in the north. Our reporter follows the trainers - and trainees - as they prepare for their mission.
The assessment of the Mali elections by the European Union's chief electoral observer, Cecile Kyenge, is that there were no grave incidents. But the poll was not problem-free, says DW correspondent Katrin Gänsler.
Mali's prime minister and government resigned without providing a reason. The country is months from a presidential election that will take place against the backdrop of a fragile peace agreement and instability.
