An exhibition, titled ‘Dromos’, showcases 65 paintings from the last 25 years of Neo Rauch’s career. He has not only found success in Germany - he's also a superstar in the U.S. and his paintings fetch record prices.
He's one of Europe's most successful contemporary artists. The documentary "Neo Rauch - Gefährten und Begleiter" by Nicola Graef offers insights into the life of the media-shy star of the New Leipzig School.
He was Neo Rauch's art teacher and an influential member of the Leizpig School. The art pioneer painted up until his death despite his severe illness - and his final work remains unfinished.
Max Beckmann's 1942 painting "The Egyptian" reached a record German price at auction of €4.7 million ($5.5 million) in Berlin. Five hundred of his paintings were confiscated from museums in the 1930s.
