Exports between China and North Korea have been hit hard by UN restrictions. However, both sides want to maintain trade ties.
Chinese President Xi Jinping became the first leader of his country to travel to Pyongyang in 14 years. The trip comes as he and Kim Jong Un seek to improve bilateral relations.
Xi Jinping is set to become the first Chinese president to travel to North Korea in 14 years. The visit comes as denuclearization talks between North Korea and the United States appear to be at a standstill.
Speaking at a banquet in his honor, Chinese President Xi Jinping wrapped up his visit to North Korea by praising economic development. However, he also issued a warning over efforts to denuclearize the peninsula.
Seoul called for the UN or another international body to investigate Japan's claims that some of its exports go to North Korea despite sanctions. Seoul and Tokyo have clashed over compensation to WWII forced laborers.
