Why are people especially tired on Mondays, and how can we ensure that we’re well-rested at the start of the week?
For many people, getting out of bed on Monday mornings isn’t easy. And many people continue to feel sleepy and unfocused for the rest of the day. A recent German survey showed that one out of six employed Germans complain of fatigue and lack of energy on Mondays. It’s all due to the shift in biorhythms that people experience on the weekend, when they tend to sleep and wake at different times than usual. Experts say that it’s best to stick to similar sleep and waking times on the weekends. Sleeping in on Sunday morning makes it harder to fall asleep on Sunday evening. And then you end up starting your work week with a “weekend jetlag.”
