A student movement to end gun violence continues to gain momentum in the US, with protests and walkouts by pupils across the country. That's despite warnings from some school districts that students would be punished for taking part.
Pupils from a US school that experienced a mass shooting in February have started a bus tour to promote tougher gun control laws. The two-month trip is aimed at registering young voters who will support such measures.
A standoff at a church in Nicaragua has ended with two people dead. The continuing unrest is the result of months of protests against the government of President Daniel Ortega. The church has stepped in to mediate.
