Roving reporter Michael Wigge continues his tour of Germany looking for interesting locations. Today he is south east of Berlin in the Spreewald or Spree Forest. Wigge learns how to steer one of the typical punts that the locals and tourists use to get around the many waterways.

Land of Loveliness - The Spreewald

This time our roving reporter is visiting the Spreewald nature reserve that is south of Berlin. About half-a-million tourists come each year, especially because of the Spreewald’s many waterways. It's especially a hit with canoeists. Locals use barges and Michael gets a lesson on how to manoeuvre them. Altogether there is a network of 1,550 kilometers of waterways.
