The Self-healing Powers of Zebrafish

Zebrafish are masters at self-healing. If their brains or hearts sustain injury, they can regrow the damaged cells. For researchers that makes them fascinating creatures to study.

Whenever they hit the road, car tires lose microplastic particles – about 1kg per car, per year. The influence of tire wear and abrasion on the environment has not been extensively researched. One team is trying to understand that impact.

Tires made from dandelions

Natural rubber is used in many everyday objects, including car tires. Unfortunately, valuable rainforest is often felled to make way for monocultural rubber plantations. But dandelion roots could soon be tapped as a new source of rubber.
