The Day: '16 million people were put in a state prison'

It's been 58 years since construction of the Berlin Wall began. Katrin Hattenhauer is an activist and former East German resident. She helped start the so-called Monday demonstrations in the eastern city of Leipzig, beginning the pressure that eventually led to the Wall's fall in 1989 and the end of Communism in Central and Eastern Europe. She recounted her experiences to The Day's Laila Harrak.
