Violence continues in Syria's Eastern Ghouta despite a UN resolution demanding a ceasefire as well as a five-hour daily 'pause' ordered by President Vladimir Putin, the Syrian regime's main ally.
France has sent humanitarian aid to a government-controlled area near Damascus after Russia agreed to facilitate its delivery. It's the first joint humanitarian aid effort in Syria between Russia and a Western country.
The Syrian regime has gained ground in southwestern Quneitra province after rebels were evacuated from the area under a deal. This comes as the first delivery of aid provided by France and Russia arrived in the country.
Russian airstrikes have given cover to Syrian forces advancing into rebel-held territory in the south. In a confused situation, rebels seem ready to deal with Russian officials.
Humanitarian agencies at the Jordanian border confirmed that tens of thousands of civilians were returning home. The Syrian army offensive on Daraa province had left 320,000 people displaced.
