Slovenia is often praised as a model newcomer to the European Union. It joined the EU in 2003, introduced the euro currency in 2007, and both fiscal policy and economic growth are considered strong. Slovenia is now taking over the presidency of the EU for the first half of this year. So we decided to examine just how fit the country really is today -- and discovered that things aren't really as rosy as they might seem at first glance. There are some problems. Foreign investment has stagnated, and inflation has picked up since the introduction of the euro. Our correspondent Karl Harenbook hit the road in Slovenia to take the country's pulse. From Maribor in the north east to the capital Lubliana to the habor town Koper. Here's what he found.
