Circus Roncalli began as a childhood dream and became a sensational success. In the mid-70s, Bernhard Paul founded the circus with a program unlike any other.

Austrian Bernhard Paul wanted to offset the decline of the circus back in the 1970’s and created a romantic and nostalgic circus world with audience participation. Paul quit his day job and met André Heller. Together they worked out their first program. But then Heller left the circus after a row and it seemed the project was doomed to fail. This film shows how Paul managed to create his own first show and win over a loyal fan following. It documents a path filled with obstacles that has led to Paul’s children continuing their father’s dream to this day.
