Pulse: Skin lightening among school girls in Ghana

Skin bleaching or toning is widely practiced in Ghana. People with lighter skins are often preferred to those with darker skins and now the fashion to ligthen up has reached secondary schools. Young girls are bleaching their skins in order to attract men. Irene Konlan, who is running an anti-bleaching crusade, is now touring high schools and preaching against the practice.
