Police: Shooter arrested in Bavaria, two dead

German police say they have captured a shooter in Ansbach, Bavaria, after he killed two people. He had tried to flee in a silver Mercedes.

German police said on Friday that two people had died after a man shot them from his car near Ansbach, which lies roughly 40 kilometers (24 miles) southwest of Nuremberg.

Besides the two dead - a woman and a male cyclist - a farmer and another car driver were reported to have been shot at or at least threatened. Police said they were not injured.

The slain woman was shot dead in Tiefenthal, a district in the town of Leutershausen. A short time later, the shooter fired at and killed the cyclist in the nearby district of Rammersdorf. Both victims died at the crime scene, according to the police.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was arrested at a gas station in Bad Windsheim (picture above), about 35 kilometers (20 miles) from the scene of the shootings.

The shooter's car was locally registered.

Police spokesman Bert Rauenbush told TV news channel N24 that there was "no evidence of accomplices, but of course we will keep our eyes open."
