The arrest of former alliance CEO and Chairman Carlos Ghosn has put the partnership in doubt.
The French carmaker has said its former chief Carlos Ghosn personally benefited from a sponsorship deal. Ghosn, an auto industry stalwart, is on trial in Japan over allegations of financial misconduct.
Former Nissan boss Carlos Ghosn has made his first public appearance in weeks in a Tokyo courtroom. A judge ruled that Ghosn's continued detention was justified because he posed a flight risk.
The Japanese automaker has accused the once-praised former executive of misusing a "significant amount of the company's funds." Nissan's criminal complaint followed fresh charges against Ghosn from Tokyo prosecutors.
The French carmaker has appointed Michelin's Jean-Dominique Senard as its new chairman and Thierry Bollore as its new chief executive. Carlos Ghosn resigned from both roles earlier on Thursday.
